Building its narrative around rural Australia's iconic Bachelor and Spinster balls, Spin Out weaves together a humorous tale of drinking, ute-driving, guys getting girls, and the clash between city and country. But integral to effective Australian comedy is the consistent positioning of the narrative from the perspective of an outsider – something to which Marc Gracie and Tim Ferguson's film, according to David Crewe, doesn't seem committed.
