Iranian-born director Alireza Ghanie's 2016 documentary is undeniably well intentioned, aiming to shed light on the ongoing disenfranchisement of Australia's First Nations peoples. But by foregrounding outsider perspectives and relying on cursory expositions on the troubles plaguing Indigenous communities, argues Jesse Thompson, the film itself fails to address the marginalisation of Indigenous Australians.
