Wicked Science is a slightly bizarre television series. Set in a secondary school classroom, it is not long before the main teenage characters find themselves dealing not just with the usual teen concerns – friendship, self esteem, romance, music, skateboarding and the everyday frictions of school and home, but something more wacky-science-gone-mad. This is no ordinary school setting and these are no ordinary kids … or are they? Each of the twenty-six episodes is a self-contained story filled with teenage angst and at least one 'wicked science' phenomenon.
After introducing the characters and the initial weird science event in Episode 1 – involving Toby, Elizabeth and the Magnetic Field Emitter – the series builds various tensions between the characters. Each episode offers seemingly endless examples of 'unreal' science that cause complications and pose problems to be solved. However, after viewing Episode 1, each of the other episodes can be enjoyed as standalone stories that provide excellent stimulus materials for Science, SOSE, English, Health and Art classes. Wicked Science worksheets can be downloaded separately.
