Product Overview

The Colony is a documentary film for secondary students that presents a piece of 'living history' in its most extreme. Over six episodes we follow a group of English, Irish and Australians (both Indigenous and European) as they travel back in time to the Australia of their ancestors. Living the life of free settlers, convicts and local Aboriginal people, they experience the unforgiving toughness of the colony of NSW as it was 200 years ago. Against this backdrop, the series explores the gripping story of the first settlements … brutal, often bloody places with conflict between races (Aboriginal, Irish and English), classes (convicts, free settlers and military), men and women.

  • Aboriginal and Indigenous Peoples
  • Colonisation and Contact History
