After arriving in the war-torn nation of Afghanistan in 2007, Australian aid workers Oliver Percovich and Sharna Nolan soon discovered that their skateboards were the most effective way for them to build friendships with the youth of Kabul. They began skating in an abandoned and waterless fountain in a street park in the district of Mekroyan and not long after founded Skateistan, a non-governmental organization that supports children and teenagers of both genders and from all ethnic backgrounds and socio-economic classes.

Standing apart from the tragic tales regularly emerging from Afghanistan, Kai Sehr's documentary demonstrates that a small but significant endeavor can make a difference.
