Broken Hill is in one of the most remote places on Earth. It's in a rare location bordering three states, and to service the medical needs of this vast area is Broken Hill Base Hospital, which is the focus of Outback ER.
This series highlights the vital work that emergency response teams perform in rural Australia by placing us in the front line – the emergency department of Broken Hill Base Hospital, with its dedicated and skillful team. Broken Hill is also the main base for the famed Royal Flying Doctors Service, which flies daily to deal with cases such as high-speed car accidents, farming accidents and tourist misadventures.
