Gayby Baby (2015) is an Australian feature documentary directed by Maya Newell and produced by Charlotte Mars.
Gus, Ebony, Matt and Graham are children navigating the usual challenges of growing up: school, sport, friends, and making their first decisions about their futures. They do so within loving homes and with caring parents – who happen to be gay or lesbian. Gayby Baby explores the reality of same-sex parenting. Who are these children? What does it mean to grow up with same-sex parents? And are children in gay families any different from other children?
Maya Newell is an Australian filmmaker. Her previous documentary credits include Richard: The Most Interestingest Person I've Ever Met (2006) and Growing Up Gayby (2013), the latter of which was made in collaboration with Charlotte Mars.
