Experimenta is Australia's leading organisation dedicated to the production, promotion and presentation of Australia contemporary media art. Experimenta is committed to growing audiences for Australian media art by providing exhibition and development opportunities for Australian artists. The artworks shown worldwide by Experimenta are always evocative, intriguing and uniquely multisensory.
Every two years Experimenta launches a major international biennial of media art in Melbourne, Australia, before embarking on a subsequent two-year national and international tour.
Each biennial exhibition brings with it new opportunities for commissioned artists to realize significant and ambitious works. These opportunities include financial, professional development and industry support from Experimenta. Past Experimenta commissions have helped launch the careers of celebrated contemporary Australian media artists such as Shaun Gladwell, Kit Wise, Van Sowerine and Isobel Knowles, attracting international exhibitions, acquisition into major public and private collections, and significant commercial success.
In addition to Experimenta's core exhibition program is a responsive suite of pop-up, festival, public and commercial projects. Consulting for some of the world's most cutting-edge organisations, Experimenta presents unique contemporary media art experiences.
The Experimenta Speak to Me exhibition and study guide offers many opportunities to promote both disciplinary and interdisciplinary learning across and within the curriculum areas of The Arts (including Media Arts), English, Humanities, Science, interdisciplinary domains including Communication, Design, Creativity and Technology, Communication Information and Communications Technology and Thinking Process, and Physical, Personal and Social Learning, including Interpersonal Development and Personal Learning, and Civics and Citizenship.
