EXPERIMENTA – HOUSE OF TOMORROW – an interactive media arts exhibition featuring amazing, must-have 'inventions' for the home of the future.

The home has been a focus for futuristic fantasies for many years - from the domestic fantasies of 'The Jetsons' to high-tech 'smart' houses devised by today's electronics companies. This exciting exhibition brings together visions of the future home as imagined by artists, filmmakers and designers.

Experimenta – House of Tomorrow creates a futuristic kitchen, lounge, bathroom and bedrooms. Each room features high-tech film, video, animation and interactive media installations, from the practical, to the virtual, from the retro-inspired, to the bizarre. "Imagine living with interactive furniture and appliances, digital video and animated artworks on the wall, a digital baby, high-tech toys, electronic plants and even robotic pets and pests, all installed in a realistic home environment". Schmooze with Zizi the Afffectionate couch (Stephen Barrass, Australia), a piece of furniture that purrs like a cat; dance on the interactive Flying Carpet (Petra Trefzger, UK) to make patterns swirl around your feet; and try to sweet talk Bow Wow (Liz Vander Zaag, Canada), the growling animated guard dog.

That's not all! You can also sit down in the (completely safe) Electric Chair (Peter Prasil, Australia), a digitally equipped chaise lounge and let your child explore a virtual world on Virsual (Nimrod Weiz & Steven Mieszelewicz, Australia), the interactive rocking horse, the ultimate toy of the future!
