It's summer vacation; the weather's great and all the kids are having fun outside. So where's Greg Heffley (Zachary Gordon)? Inside his house, playing video games with the shades drawn.
Greg, a self-confessed 'indoor person', is living out his ultimate summer fantasy: no responsibilities and no rules. But Greg's mother has a different vision for an ideal summer ... one packed with outdoor activities and 'family togetherness'. Greg pretends to have a job at a country club to avoid working as an intern at his father's company and potentially embarrassing situations, including a Boy Scout camping trip. The arrival of Sweetie, a dog, and complications arising from a holiday away with Greg's best friend Rowley's family add to his problems.
This latest film adaptation of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series is based on both the third and fourth books, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Last Straw and Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days.
