Ray Whitrod came to national prominence in 1976 when he resigned as Queensland’s Commissioner of Police as a protest against corruption. His efforts to reform the State’s police had met with strong opposition from both within the force and the Bjelke-Petersen Government. It was a very public stand which enhanced his reputation as a cop of unusual integrity, dedicated to improving the world around him. In this interview, Ray looks back over a distinguished career, including his involvement in establishing ASIO and the New Guinea Police Force.
