'Is The Truman Show an example of alternative, radical storytelling that liberates and empowers the audience? David Malouf has argued that Truman's liberation, and his 'ending' to Christof's Show and story, also liberates the audience, 'ending' our addiction to watching other people's stories. As Truman abandons the security of acting in Christof's illusory world are we also challenged to leave the safety of being merely audiences to others' stories, and to begin living our own lives?
