Landless White Women: Tracking a Non-Aboriginal Landscape Tradition in Australian Cinema

Anthony Lambert argues that Australian cinema has tended to locate colonisation and experiences of survival and belonging in the physical environment in relation to an ideal of identity and nation building associated with European masculine endeavour. In the process of this nullification of women's agency in the landscape, white women become ahistorical, apolitical and landless, removed from invasion and acquisition.
