The film of J.R.R. Tolkien's "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring" is best catagorized as belonging to the marvellous mode, a mode which Rosemary Jackson suggests is 'a fantasy world filed with magic, romance and supernaturalism'. The narrator is impersonal in such film texts, and has an authoritative, knowing voice: a God-like and invisible presence, soliciting our belief in the otherwise impossible dimensions of this world.'
