Snakeskin (Gillian Ashurst, 2001) is a very assured movie, a collision of stunning postcard scenery with New Zealand's now-familiar 'cinema of unease'. Almost a genre in its own right, this 'flipside-of-that-postcard' melds seamlessly with the road movie genre as if they were always meant to be bedfellows.
