Australia is becoming increasingly multicultural, yet the number of non-white faces on our screens remains dismally low. This is problematic because, as Alice Burgin argues, filmic representations not only empower diasporic communities by giving them a sense of validation in the 'host' culture, but also connect them with the culture of their home.
