DVD (episodes 1-26)
A compelling science fiction (SF), fantasy television drama series with particular appeal to Middle Years students, ages 10–16. A freak accident transports suburban teenager Paul to a parallel world, where the Industrial Revolution never happened.
When teenager Paul arrives in a parallel world after being transported from a school Science camp, he finds that scientific knowledge is kept secret by a powerful group called the Spellbinders, who use science to control the people by creating the illusion that they have magical powers. Paul's knowledge of science threatens to expose the Spellbinders' lies, and soon he is being hunted by them. Paul eventually finds a way home, helped by a young girl Riana, but in the process she becomes trapped in our complex, industrial world. When an evil Spellbinder also discovers how to break through to our world, Paul and Riana must use their wits and imagination to prevent her gaining access to unimaginable technology and power.
The series and educational resources support the use of Spellbinder in English, Science, Social learning, Technology and Media Studies. Themes and topics include science and superstition, world issues, heroes, sci-fi genre and alternate worlds.
